Boyd County Conservatives 18March, 2025
Boyd County Republicans gathered yesterday evening in Ashland to elect Precinct and County level officers. As directed by Hunter Boyd, who has been serving as Chairman of the Boyd County GOP, the meeting was in response to the Republican Party of Kentucky issuing a Call to Reorganize, a process occurring every four years after U.S. Presidential election cycles.

The Call to Reorganize mandates that all County Republican Parties elect officers for the Precinct and County level... only individuals who were registered Kentucky Republicans as of the last general election are eligible to participate in Precinct Committee elections.
The room was filled with light banter, quite a bit of laughter, and, also a little private pleading or even public arm-twisting as some members of our community were unexpectedly nominated to positions by Family, friends, or even co-workers!
Last night's attendees were a snapshot of our local community, with people of all ages and all walks of life represented. Whether from "out in the county" or "in town", just getting started in life or retired, from among the blue-collar or professional classes, etc., the men and women of all ages who met last night are part of a larger coalition, working together and united by our community's shared values of Faith, Family, and Freedom.
It's especially worth mentioning here, too, that others have worked hard to make the Boyd County Republicans the growing organization it is today. A foundation has been put in place upon which their successors can continue to grow the local GOP. Thank you to everyone involved!
Precinct officers are the backbone of the Republican Party and leaders in the community. Boyd County has 48 precincts and each must be filled with strong leaders so that we continue to elect Republicans to office. Every precinct has the position of Captain, Co-Captain and Youth Chair.
These are volunteer grassroots roles that play a vital part in building relationships within the community and / or precincts, sharing information from both the party and the community, and supporting election campaigns. Responsibilities also include facilitating voter registration and absentee ballot access, leading get-out-the-vote efforts, distributing campaign materials, promoting our party, and addressing voter concerns.
Grassroots volunteers play the most important role in the Republican Party. They bring in energy and fresh new ideas. If you missed the opportunity yesterday to have a voice in your local GOP, but would still like to become involved, there will be a follow-on meeting (to be announced) soon to fill any remaining Precinct officer positions.
